What does it mean when it says that I am pre-approved or pre-qualified for a Seen Mastercard®?
Being “pre-approved” or “pre-qualified” means that a soft inquiry on your credit report is pulled to see if you met the qualifying criteria. This does not affect your score.
Being “pre-approved” or “pre-qualified” does not guarantee that you will be approved for credit. After you complete your application, we will place a hard inquiry on your credit report and determine whether you continue to meet our credit criteria.
Will applying for a Seen Mastercard® require a hard credit check?
Yes, it will. If you submit an application for a Seen Mastercard® credit card, we will have to perform a hard inquiry on your credit report to determine your eligibility. This may affect your credit score.
Why should I get the Seen Mastercard®?
Good question. It can be tough to get approved for a credit card or loan with a low credit score or a limited credit history. The Seen branded credit card is for individuals who want to improve their credit because we believe that everyone deserves a fair and affordable opportunity to strengthen their credit.
Why can’t I get approved for a credit card?
Credit card applications may be denied because of many different factors, which will vary among banks that issue credit cards. Common factors that may negatively affect your ability to be approved for a credit card include missing or late payments, a short credit history or “thin file,” the number of current revolving accounts you have, high utilization of credit limits on existing revolving accounts, low or unsteady income, limited or unsteady job history, or bankruptcies and other blemishes on your credit report.
How can I get a credit card with a low credit score?
Even with a low credit score you may still have options for getting approved for a credit card. Many banks offer secured credit cards which are either fully or partially secured by a refundable cash security deposit to do so. You can also look for credit cards specifically for individuals who are new to credit or who are "rebuilding" their credit. Often you may be able to "prequalify" for these credit cards without negatively impacting your credit score. Seen believes everyone deserves an opportunity to build their credit. Through our bank partners, we're working to break down the traditional barriers to credit and make credit cards more accessible.
What credit score do I need for a credit card?
Each bank issuing credit cards has different credit score requirements and related approval criteria. Generally speaking, the higher your credit score, the better your odds of being approved. There are options for people with lower credit scores or no credit history, including the Seen Mastercard®. You can see if you qualify for the Seen Mastercard® with no impact to your credit score and no commitment. If you are eligible, you can decide to complete your application, which will trigger a hard inquiry.
